I heard an interesting idea recently in a Christian film. A man suggested that God took 7 days to create the world because he wanted it to be a message about the history of the world, namely that the world would last for 7 'days'. Based on Psalm 90v4 and 2Peter 3v8 each day could be representative of 1000 years of world history.
Therefore the first day would be from Adam to Noah, for the ages in the family tree in Genesis 5 add up almost perfectly: Noah was born in the year 1056 after Adam (I've just spent half an hour working it out!) ad Abram was born in 1946, so that is two days up to there.
After that the dates are harder to work out exactly, but just last week I was reminded that a medieval scholar worked out that Christ was born 4004 years after the creation, so I'm going to take his word for it, so that means that there were two days of Israelite history until Christ came.
Therefore the Old Testament was four 'days' of history, and then it gets quite spooky because Hosea 6v2 says that Israel would be revived "after 2 days" and restored "on the third day". If this was a prophecy speaking about the way Israel would be removed from their homeland for '2 days' and then restored, it is exactly what we are witnessing in Israel today: '2 days' is 2000 years, and the third day is here when Israel will be restored! We are now at the very end of day 6 of history!!
What is the 7th day? The Sabbath could be the Millenium Reign of Christ, 1000 years that could be "The Day of the Lord", the 'day' when he restores Israel.
I would like to know if there are any more scriptures that backup this theory (like Hosea 6) and what effect this idea would have on other areas of theology, or what we do. Click COMMENTS below.

First the seven day matter from the seven days of Creation and the 4oo4 bc. of Archbishop Usher. Yes there are lots of reasons for believing that you are right. The number seven is the number of perfection and so the number of God, and of completeness. Eight is the resurrection number, and so, in a way is three, but that is beside this present point. Try looking at Leviticus chapter 23. There you have seven 'feasts' of 'festivals'. They present a panorama of Bible History. First come the Sabbath which is not one of the feasts but tells us of that eternal state with only the Godhead. Then the Creation which continued in a state of rest until it was broken by the fall. This also corresponds to Moses breaking the tables of the Law(Torah) when he came down and found Israel sinning. So then, in human history and in God's history of redemption we come to the Passover and the ensuing feastival of Unleavened Bread. The Passover, for Christ out Passover is sacrificed for us, brings us out of the world onto the journey to the promised land. We come to Christ and we "keep the feast, not with the leaven of malice and wickedness but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth".
The Feast of Firstfuits next is about resurrection. "That I may know Him and the Power of His resurrection." Again this is the other aspect of the Christian life.
After that comes the Feast of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was given and when "two wave loaves, baked with leaven" were offered. That brings us onto the subject of leaven. It is universally, as also above, a symbol of evil. The Church of which the Lord Jesus is the Head is of the called out from the world, Jew and Gentile. We have been called as sinners. The Lord Jesus "came, not to call the righteous, but sinner, to repentance."
There is then a period of harvest or a time when finally God is calling folk from the byeways and hedgerows, having already called those in the city and the Jews themselves. After that the trumpet sounds. (Read my book Dry Bones I can email an attachment, or just the final chapter which has the rapture) Israel, after the church is called up, is brought through the terrible tribulation period and to mourn, finally, for "Him Whom they pierced."
After the Lord Jesus returns to the earth there is the millenium, the final feast in this world's history the Feast of Succott or Tabernacles(Booths),then again the eternal state which is the millenium writ large and for ever.
Next try Daniel chapter nine which is the key to all Bible prophecy and chronology. There are sixty nine 'sevens' of years to "Messiah the Prince". And, "after that shall Messiah be cut of but not for Himself". Then the final week(seven) of prophecy is when Israel go through the Great Tribulation and finally mourn for Him. This will be in the words of Isaiah chapter fifty three. "We did esteem Him smitten, stricken of God, Yet He was bruised for our iniquities, He was wounded for our transgressions, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed."
note also that six is the number of man and eight is the number of resurrection. The Devil's promise was "ye shall be as Gods". Man constantly tries to be this and constantly fails yet he still believes Satan's lie. Man, as six can never reach God, God instead has to reach him as He did in the Lord Jesus, in His life and in His death.
If there are typograhical errors please forgive this. The excuse is that I am hurrying. I can give references if you wish and I could also amplify this with more explanation. I suggest you use Strong's Concordance to look up each one of the Feasts of Jehovah, you would then be a Berean and you would not take my word. Indeed, please do not take my word.
I would also council care for many have taken it upon themselves to set dates. We may be pretty sure the end is near and my also expect persecution, that would be nothing new for the Rom. When exactly, is another matter which only The Father knows as the Lord Jesus said in Acts chapter one.
Pleas let me know what you make of all this since I want to help, though not to patronise. It just occurs to me that I may be giving elderly relative lessons in sucking eggs. I am sorry is that is the case.
Yours in the Lord Jesus
